Synopsis// *Could be a spoiler if you haven't read the first book* Can Apollo's Curse be broken? Seventeen-year-old Hope Nicholas is done running. Apollo's Curse has ruled her entire life, limiting her choices and robbing her of the things that matter most. But she refuses to live i fear any longer. In fact, she's ready to do whatever it takes to break the god's power over her existence. When the goddess Artemis instructs Hope to impersonate a demigod and infiltrates a conservatory to get access to the Olympian library, she doesn't hesitate. As she sees it, there's nothing left to lose. But once inside, Hope discovers the only way to get what she needs is to work with her sworn enemies. As the lines between demigod and monster are crossed again and again, Hope has to dig deep for the courage to accept her fate or fight for the freedom to save herself.

*Non-Spoiler Section of My Review*

'Demigods and Monsters' is the second book to the 'Sphinx' series and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it even more than the first book too. The story to me, was more gripping and on-edge, as within the first story, Hope is just trying to live as much of a normal life as possible but in 'DAM'* there is always something that could go wrong, making the story fast pace and gripping. Hope continued to grow within the story, making her a stronger and braver as the story went along. You saw her grow new friendships but also witnessed her suffering from the emotions of losing her mum and friends from the first book.
It was interesting to witness a love triangle being thrown in to the story BUT I really liked it, it wasn't your normal love triangle where the girl plays both boys on, confusing the whole situation. This love triangle was really subtle and didn't really get more noticeable until the last few chapters of the book. I really enjoyed meeting Xan (the new love interest), his character was quite obnoxious and rude at the start of the book but you do start to warm with him and Hope's friendship with him grows (although I am still team Athan).

*Spoiler Section of My Review*

I think my favroutie parts of the story was when Hope met Artemis and Apollo for the first time, it was really interesting to see how Hope reacted towards both of them although when Apollo showed up, it left you answering questions.
At the time of when Apollo appears she is being beaten up by the other demigods within the conservatory, they're doing this as they found out that she's the sphinx. When Apollo appears he ends up killing his own sons due to being angry with them for beating Hope up, as he tell's them that Hope is his and they are not to be the ones to kill her but he doesn't kill her, he heals her. This is where you start asking questions, as why did Apollo heal Hope?!
I'm really excited for the 3rd book to be released so these questions can be answered!
The book ended on Hope fleeing again and leaving Athan to search for her again too. It was so great to see Athan and Hope forgive each other close to the end of the book but it's so heart breaking that Athan has been left to search for her again, due to Apollo's curse.
